Will Smith earned his undergraduate degree with honors in English Literature from Augusta State University in 2006. During college Will worked as a certified nursing assistant in nursing homes. He then went on to attend Georgia State University College of Law, where he served as President of the Mock Trial team and was a member of Moot Court. During law school, he interned with the Fulton County Solicitor’s Office and, under Georgia’s Third-Year Practice Act, tried multiple bench and jury trials.
After graduating from law school in 2010, Will opened his own law firm and spent the next fifteen years practicing criminal defense, civil litigation, and nursing home malpractice throughout the State of Georgia. During this time, he served as a trial attorney, gaining extensive courtroom experience through numerous jury and bench trials. His work advocating for vulnerable populations, particularly elderly and disabled clients, gave him firsthand insight into the challenges faced by veterans later in life.
Will is a United States Marine Corps veteran who served from 1996 to 2000 as a member of the Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team (FAST Company). He deployed to Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, earning the rank of Sergeant. His military service, combined with his legal work representing veterans in nursing home settings and his experience as a certified nursing assistant, gives him a unique and deeply personal understanding of what many veterans endure after service.
Driven by that experience, Will felt a calling to dedicate his legal practice to helping veterans secure the benefits they have earned through their service to this country.
Will has been recognized as a Super Lawyer, an honor based on peer nominations and independent research identifying attorneys who have attained a high degree of professional achievement and peer recognition. He also maintains a 10 out of 10 rating on Avvo, reflecting strong professional credentials and client satisfaction.
Will is admitted to practice law in Georgia, the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Georgia Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia
Will lives in North Georgia with his wife and three children. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, writing, and volunteering with elderly members of his community. He is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
