Naoyo Mori earned her Juris Doctor from the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law, an institution nationally recognized for its strong commitment to public service and advocacy for underserved communities.
Ms. Mori holds a PhD in Medical Sciences from the University of Tokyo, along with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Sophia University and a Master of Science in Environmental and Occupational Health from California State University, Northridge.
Drawing on this advanced scientific training, Ms. Mori worked as a lead epidemiologist at the US Department of Energy’s Hanford Site, where she specialized in occupational health and safety with a focus on chemical exposures and their long term health effects on workers./p>
While working in epidemiology, Ms. Mori saw the limits of scientific expertise alone within workers’ compensation systems. Even when strong scientific evidence of harm existed, many affected workers, including veterans, lacked effective legal advocacy. This experience led her to pursue a legal career focused on representing veterans as a VA benefits attorney.
Although she is not a veteran herself, Ms. Mori is deeply committed to representing veterans and their families. Her dedication is grounded in the belief that those who have sacrificed for this country, or who have been harmed through no fault of their own, deserve knowledgeable, determined, and compassionate legal advocacy.
Ms. Mori was admitted to the bar in May 2022 and is licensed to practice law in Washington, DC and Maryland. She brings to every case a rare combination of legal training, scientific expertise, and rigorous analytical skills. Her interdisciplinary background allows her to evaluate complex medical and exposure related evidence and advocate effectively on behalf of her clients with diligence, clarity, and empathy.
