Heather Smith

CLCW Task Force

Military affiliation: SGT, US Army, 2005 to 2009

Berry Law Position: CLCW Task Force

Heather Smith currently serves as a Camp Lejeune Contaminated Water Task Force member & has been with Berry Law since July of 2022. Heather has always had a drive to help people & she has focused that into her work within the veteran community at Berry Law & Disgruntled Vets.

Heather’s military experiences include being assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division’s Combat Air Brigade at Fort Bragg, North Carolina under 122 Air Support Battalion as an Aircraft Electrician, who deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom VII & VIII. After deployments to Afghanistan in 2007-2008, then SPC Smith, was accepted to Warrant Officer Candidate School. However, a back injury relating to a fall from a UH-60 ended SGT Smith’s military career aspirations in late 2009.

After active duty, Heather spent several years working as a Rotorcraft Electrician for the U.S. Navy & U.S. Coast Guard operations on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She then made the jump to homesteading to relax, getting back to her roots of farming & agriculture. Preferring to spend time away from the city noise, she has traveled the United States living off-the-grid for the last ten years visiting the wild spaces most have never seen or heard of. Digging in the Earth for treasures of times long past is a favorite hobby for Heather along with practicing native foraging, survival techniques, fishing, hunting, & trapping.

Heather lives outside Dallas, Texas with her husband of 18 years, their two Mastiffs, & five Persian cats on a small ranch homestead. She received her undergraduate degree from Embry Riddle University in Aeronautics with Certificates in Safety, Human Factors, & Leadership in 2012.
