Jason Gibson: From Marine Corps Service to Advocating for Veterans

Jason Gibson’s journey is a testament to resilience, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. Starting as a helicopter mechanic and door gunner in the U.S. Marine Corps, Jason served with honor for nearly two decades, embodying the Marine Corps values of honor, courage, and commitment. Today, Jason continues his mission by advocating for Veterans and supporting them in navigating the challenges of civilian life.

A Distinguished Career in the Marine Corps

Jason began his military service in 2002 as a helicopter mechanic on CH-53E cargo helicopters, later serving as a door gunner and tail gunner. His career spanned nine years in these roles before transitioning to Marine Corps recruiting, where he excelled in shaping the next generation of Marines. Reflecting on his time in the military, Jason said, “Adversity is going to happen—it’s not about when it happens, but how you react to it. You have to push forward.”

Transitioning to Civilian Life

After retiring from the Marine Corps, Jason initially worked as a talent acquisition specialist at Pella Doors and Windows. However, his passion for service led him to a new calling: assisting Veterans. In January of last year, Jason joined Berry Law, where he uses his leadership skills and dedication to help fellow Veterans obtain the benefits they deserve.

Living the Values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment

The Marine Corps instilled in Jason the importance of integrity, leadership, and perseverance. “Stepping up and doing the things you’re supposed to do—being committed to the cause—that’s what it’s all about,” he said. These values guide his work with Veterans, ensuring they receive the support they need to build strong, fulfilling futures.

A Humbling Journey

Jason describes his journey as “super humbling.” From deployments to receiving a standing ovation at a Husker game after his third deployment, he remains grateful for the support and recognition he’s received. “It’s an amazing feeling to know that people are proud and thankful for what we do for them,” he shared.

Continuing the Mission

Today, Jason Gibson’s story comes full circle as he continues to serve those who served. His work with Veterans is a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of military service and the importance of paying it forward. By embracing the challenges and pushing forward, Jason exemplifies the best of what it means to be a Veteran and advocate.
