Veterans Day Gratitude Campaign: Volunteers Deliver Bags and Baskets to Local Veterans

With Veterans Day approaching, volunteers in Omaha are showing their gratitude by filling and delivering bags and baskets to Veterans in the community. This annual Veterans Day Gratitude Campaign has grown significantly, reaching more than 200 Veterans last year and aiming to expand even further this year.

A Heartfelt Thank You

The bags and baskets, organized with the help of Veteran groups and Omaha Federal Credit Union, include not only essentials but also handwritten notes from local scouts. These personal touches make a meaningful impact. “They love it. They are very appreciative,” one organizer shared. “Just the simple fact that somebody is taking the time to say thank you to them.”

Growing Support and Outreach

As donations and participation increase, the campaign continues to reach more Veterans. Last year, deliveries were made across five counties. This year, the organizers hope to expand into Harrison and Pottawattamie counties, ensuring that even more Veterans feel the appreciation they deserve.

How You Can Get Involved

The Veterans Day Gratitude Campaign relies on community support to reach as many Veterans as possible. Whether by donating supplies, volunteering to assemble bags, or writing heartfelt notes, every contribution helps make a difference.

For additional ways to give back to veterans this Veterans Day, consider exploring opportunities through Volunteers of America or other local organizations dedicated to supporting veterans.
