HEROSTOCK: Building Community and Support for Veterans and First Responders

HEROSTOCK, a nonprofit founded by Jason Steiner, is dedicated to creating events that connect Veterans, first responders, and Gold Star families with their communities. Through live music, professional BBQ competitions, golf tournaments, and resource fairs, HEROSTOCK provides a space for heroes to meet, build relationships, and discover local resources that can support their well-being.

What HEROSTOCK is All About

The mission of HEROSTOCK is clear—to bring together those who have served and sacrificed while offering them a strong support network and access to vital resources.

“We work with Veterans, first responders, and Gold Star families, but we also encourage our community to come in and see what we’re doing and what all of these other amazing nonprofits are doing.” – Jason Steiner, HEROSTOCK Founder

Through these events, HEROSTOCK helps attendees make connections they may not realize they need until they find them.

Exciting Events in 2025

HEROSTOCK is hosting five major events this year, providing plenty of opportunities for Veterans and their families to participate:

  • Two professional BBQ Smoke Offs
  • Two golf tournaments
  • Ashland, NE – Country Drive Golf Course
  • Kearney, NE – Buffalo Ridge Golf Course
  • The Main HEROSTOCK Event – August 22-23
  • Featuring eight bands (rock and country)
  • Food trucks
  • 75+ resource booths from local nonprofits
  • Opportunities to connect with support services

Steiner encourages everyone to attend, even if it’s just for a short visit. “You don’t know what you don’t know. Even if it’s only for 30 minutes, come check it out. You might make connections that you don’t realize you need.”

HEROSTOCK Wins Mission Service Award

HEROSTOCK’s dedication to helping Veterans and first responders stay on mission has earned them the Mission Service Award from Berry Law. Steiner expressed how meaningful this recognition is to the organization. “It highlights what we’re doing and gives us a chance to push this out further,” Steiner said. “We work closely with Berry Law, and it’s amazing to receive their award for mission service.”

For HEROSTOCK, staying on mission is about continuing to support the men and women who have served by providing them with community, camaraderie, and resources.
