Cpl. Daegan Page was among the 13 U.S. service members killed in the Kabul airport bombing on August 26, 2021, during the U.S. evacuation from Afghanistan. Beyond this loss, Daegan’s life radiated service, laughter, and love for his country, family, and fellow Marines. Who Was Cpl. Daegan Page? 

Born on February 6, 1998, in Omaha, Daegan lived life with joy and a sense of duty. From a young age, he embraced the outdoors, developed a love for hockey, and later took up the call to serve his country by enlisting in the Marine Corps. Over his service, Daegan was deployed to multiple countries, including Japan, South Korea, Australia, and Afghanistan.

Daegan’s vibrant personality radiated humor, dedication, and a strong work ethic. Consequently, his fellow Marines loved him for his knack for fostering camaraderie and his unwavering loyalty to the team. Moreover, during the Kabul evacuation, his sense of responsibility shone brightly as he tirelessly worked to ensure the safety of countless civilians and service members, prioritizing their well-being above his own.

For Gold Star Families like Daegan’s, losing a loved one brings a complex mix of pain and pride. His family established the Corporal Daegan Page Foundation to preserve his legacy and support veterans, families, and communities in need. This foundation transforms grief into purpose, channeling community support to honor Daegan’s life. After his death, thousands lined the streets of Omaha to pay tribute, reflecting the community’s respect for his sacrifice.
