From Air Force to Advocacy: Andrew Starbuck’s Inspiring Veteran Journey

Andrew Starbuck’s inspiring Veteran Journey showcases a life dedicated to service, resilience, and giving back to the Veteran community. With nearly two decades of military experience in the United States Air Force and Nebraska Air National Guard, Andrew now uses his expertise to support fellow Veterans in his role at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

A Military Career of Dedication

Andrew’s service began in 2003, where he was stationed at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota and Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada during his active-duty years. In 2008, he transitioned to the Nebraska Air National Guard in Lincoln, Nebraska, continuing his commitment to the nation. Over his career, Andrew deployed six times to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. Through it all, his family was his constant source of strength. “My family at home keeps me grounded,” he shared, underscoring their importance in his journey.

A Seamless Transition to Civilian Leadership

In April, Andrew will retire from the Air National Guard and Air Force, capping an impressive military career. However, his service doesn’t end there. As the Lead Engineering Technician for the Department of Veterans Affairs, Andrew applies his skills to oversee construction and new projects at VA facilities. His role is critical in ensuring the VA continues to provide top-tier support for Veterans.

Lessons and Values from Service

Patience is a value Andrew credits to his military experience. “Patience has probably been the biggest lesson,” he reflected. This mindset, developed during his years of service, has been instrumental in his success as he transitioned into civilian life.

Honoring a Lifetime of Service

Andrew’s contributions were recently recognized, an honor he describes as humbling. “It means a lot. Very surprising when I got the call. Big honor to be honored here,” he said. His journey from active-duty Airman to Veteran advocate exemplifies the enduring spirit of service.

A Legacy of Impact

From deployments across the globe to leading projects that directly benefit Veterans, Andrew Starbuck’s inspiring Veteran Journey is a reminder of the importance of continuing to serve, even after military retirement. His commitment to supporting those who served alongside him is a testament to his dedication and leadership.
