VA Extends Deadline for My HealtheVet Sign-In Changes

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has extended the deadline March 4, 2025 for transitioning from My HealtheVet user IDs and passwords to Login.gov or ID.me accounts. This change is essential for continued access to vital VA online services, including secure messaging, prescription refills, appointment reminders, and medical records.

Why the Change?

The shift to Login.gov and ID.me aims to enhance the security and efficiency of VA online services. These platforms offer robust identity verification processes to keep Veterans’ personal information protected. By consolidating access through these services, the VA strives to provide a seamless and secure user experience.

How to Create a Login.gov or ID.me Account

Creating a new account is a straightforward process:

  1. Visit the VA Sign-In Page: Navigate to the VA’s official sign-in page to get started.
  2. Choose an Account Provider: Select either Login.gov or ID.me as your preferred sign-in partner.
  3. Follow the Registration Steps: Provide the necessary information, which may include email verification and multi-factor authentication, to set up your account.
