Bringing Veterans Together through Golf: The Veteran Golfers Association

Imagine a beautiful morning in Omaha, where the sun is shining, the temperature is in the pleasant low 60s, and there’s no wind. It’s the perfect day for a round of golf, especially when you’re part of a community that understands the true meaning of camaraderie and shared experiences. Enter the Veteran Golfers Association (VGA), a national nonprofit organization that brings together veterans and their families through the game of golf. With its widespread presence and numerous events, the VGA has become a haven for more than 14,000 active members nationwide, fostering a sense of community, fun, and competition.

Who is the Veteran Golfers Association (VGA)

With chapters located in every state, and even reaching as far as Bahrain and Germany, the VGA has successfully built a network of golf enthusiasts connected by their military service. Led by dedicated individuals like Jason Moore, the Nebraska State Director, the organization organizes an impressive 600 events each year across the country. These events provide an opportunity for veterans, as well as their family members, to connect with others who understand their unique experiences. One of the distinguishing features of the VGA is the flight system it utilizes, which separates golfers based on skill level, age, and veteran status. This ensures fair competition while also allowing veterans and their families to engage with others who have shared similar experiences. The VGA is not just about the game of golf; it’s about fostering camaraderie, support, and a sense of belonging among its members
