Surviving Spouse’s claim for service-connected death benefits, or Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) benefits, was granted starting on October 1, 2016. Adjustments were made over the years for cost-of-living increases and changes in the minor child rate, including adjustments when child 1 turned 18 in 2018, and when child 2 turned 18 in 2020. Subsequent annual cost-of-living adjustments continued through December 1, 2023.
